The Red Bull Pro Nationals, the UK's fastest-growing top-flight motocross series, is spreading its wings and heading to mainland Europe this summer.

De Red Bull Pro Nationals, de snelst groeiende motocross serie van de UK, spreidt haar vleugels uit naar Europa deze zomer.

On August 11-12 the series will land at the former grand prix circuit at Mill in Holland for the first-ever International Red Bull Pro National. This one-off event is intended to test the waters before promoters Events 22 roll out their new championship in 2013 with a minimum of five rounds planned at top European tracks.

Op 11-12 augustus zal de allereerste international Red Bull Pro Nationals wedstrijd gehouden worden op het voormalige grand prix circuit van Mill in Nederland. Initiatiefnemer Events 22 wil met deze losstaande wedstrijd kijken of hun nieuwe kampioenschap in 2013 met een minimum van vijf wedstrijden op de beste tracks van Europa haalbaar is.

"It only seems like yesterday that we came up with a plan for a new type of motocross event and here we are today just about to expand our series in to Europe," says series organiser Matt Bates. "I can't thank Red Bull enough for giving me the chance to make this happen and I'm sure within 12 months we'll be staring down the barrel of a new European series."

"Het is net of als wij gisteren met een plan kwamen voor een nieuw soort motorcross evenement en nu zijn we al zover om te spreken over het uitbreiden van ons kampioenschap in Europa," zegt organisator Matt Bates. "Ik kan Red Bull niet genoeg bedanken voor de kans dit te organiseren en ik ben er zeker van dat we binnen 12 maanden aan het begin staan van een nieuw Europees kampioenschap."

The Mill race is a stand-alone event and won't count towards the established Red Bull Pro Nationals series although UK riders and teams will be invited to compete and should comprise around 25 per cent of the entry. Dutch riders will make up the bulk of the competitors and fill about 50 per cent of the start gate with the remainder of the field coming from the rest of the world to give a genuine international flavour to the weekend.

De wedstrijd in Mill is een losstaand evenement en zal niet meetellen met de al bestaande serie van de Red Bull Pro Nationals in de UK. Uiteraard zijn de Engelse rijders en teams uitgenodigd mee te doen en zij zullen voor zo´n 25 procent de deelnemerslijsten vullen. De Nederlandse rijders zullen ongeveer 50 procent van de starthekken vullen. De rest van het deelnemersveld bestaat uit internationale rijders  uit de gehele wereld en geven zo een internationale tint aan het gebeuren.

Along with established partner Red Bull, Events 22 are joining forces with major Dutch federation Motorsport Organisatie Nederland and Motor Club Mill for the August event. Mill is a unique venue which features a pit area next to a man-made windsurfing lake and as part of their debut international meeting Events 22 plan to stage a party on the lakeside beach to help create the festival feel that has become synonymous with their UK events.

Naast de gevestigde partner Red Bull, werkt Events 22 samen met promoter Jarno Oldenijens, Motorsport Organisatie Nederland en Motor Club Mill voor het in augustus te houden event. Mill is een unieke locatie, met een geweldige ruimte en met een surfstrand! en als onderdeel van het debuut in Nederland, zal international meetings Event 22 een beachparty en Freestyle MX organiseren om zo een festival gevoel te creeren, net als hun evenementen in de UK.

"We've moved the date to August 11-12 so it so it doesn't clash with a GP and now we're working with Red Bull to get Jeffrey Herlings, Stefan Everts, Tony Cairoli – all of those guys – to race along with the best youth guys and do exactly what we do in the UK with two-stroke, youth and pro classes so we cover all parts of the sport.

"We hebben de datum verschoven naar 11 en 12 augustus, zodat het niet gelijk valt met een GP en momenteel zijn we bezig om Jeffrey Herlings, Stefan Everts, Tony Cairoli en anderen voor ons event te strikken, om te rijden tegen en met de beste jeugdrijders op de zelfde manier als in de UK met een two-stroke, jeugd en pro classes, zodat alle takken van de sport aanwezig zijn.

"MC Mill and the MON have been exceptionally positive and welcoming to our event and it would seem we're making a really big noise across the water," adds Matt. "The UK teams and riders that have supported the Red Bull Pro Nationals should be proud of what they've created – something that other countries want!"

"Iedereen in Nederland is uitzonderlijk positief en verwelkomt ons hartelijk met ons evenement en het lijkt erop dat we de boel op stelten gaan zetten op het vasteland" voegt Matt toe. "De Engelse teams en rijders die de Red Bull Pro Nationals supporten, zouden trots moeten zijn op het geen zijn gecreerd hebben! iets waar andere landen jaloers op zouden zijn!"

Of course, Mill is just the beginning and next year will see a new Europe-wide series established that takes the tried and tested Red Bull Pro Nationals formula in the UK and hands it over to our continental cousins. For Matt it's the realisation of a prolonged period of planning.

Uiteraad is Mill slechts het begin en volgend jaar zullen we starten met een nieuw Europees Kampioenschap met dezelfde Red Bull Pro Nationals formule, over te dragen aan onze collega´s in andere landen. Voor Matt zou dit de realisatie betekenen van een langdurige planning.

"It's something I've been talking to Red Bull about for over two years since we all realised that Red Bull Pro Nationals was far bigger than we thought it could be. We knew the potential but I guess we didn't anticipate the success of the youth side. In a relatively short space of time the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup has become the major youth championship in the UK. What we want to do now is create a platform for the other Red Bull territories where we can take this type of event and put it into their countries."

"Het was iets waar ik met Red Bull twee jaar geleden over sprak, tot dat we beseften dat de Red Bull Pro Nationals veel groter kon worden dan dat wij dachten. We wisten dat het potentie had, maar ik denk dat we niet stil stonden bij het succes van de jeugd. In een relatief korte periode is de Red Bull Elite Youth Cup het belangrijkste jeugdkampioenschap geworden in de UK. We willen nu een platform creeren voor andere Red Bull gebieden, waar we dit evenement kunnen lanceren."

This new international series will incorporate one existing British round with another four stops scheduled in mainland Europe although Matt is quick to point out that he's not intending to create a rival to the existing world championship series.

Deze nieuwe international serie zal een Engelse wedstrijd bevatten en vier andere wedstrijden die gehouden zullen worden in Europa. Matt wijst er daarbij op dat hij niet van plan is om te gaan concureren met de bestaand World Champion series (GP).

"Next year we plan for it to become an international series with one of our events in the UK becoming a round and that's more than likely going to be at the historic Hawkstone Park venue in Shropshire. We're looking at a minimum of five rounds so as well as the UK and Holland we'll pick three other countries. I'd like to go to France, Spain and maybe somewhere like Norway or Sweden in the north of Europe but Italy have also shown a big interest and they've got a really strong youth series over there and obviously then Tony Cairoli could become a big part of it.

"Volgend jaar willen we starten met de internationale wedstrijden waarvan er een in de UK gereden zal gaan worden en waarschijnlijk zal dat gebeuren op het historisch circuit van Hawkstone Park. We willen minimaal vijf wedstrijden organiseren, waaronder een in de UK en in Nederland, daarnaast zullen er nog drie in andere Europese landen gehouden worden. Ik zou graag een wedstrijd in Frankrijk, Spanje en misschien in Noorwegen of Zweden, het noorden van Europa organiseren, maar ook Italie heeft serieus interesse getoond en zij organiseren daar goede jeugdwedstrijden. Mogelijk wil Tony Cairoli daar dan ook onderdeel van uitmaken.

"The more we expand into Europe the harder it becomes logistically because if we then have to create five rounds that don't clash with a GP then that's going to be really difficult. The long-term plan isn't to create a series that goes up against the GPs and events may clash – we're not professing this to be a world championship series, that's not the case. But it will become a world series."

"Des te meer wij uitbreiden in Europa, des te moeilijker het organisatorisch zal worden, vooral als we vijf wedstrijden willen organiseren die niet op een zelfde datum als een GP vallen, maar dat zal bijzonder lastig worden. Onze lange termijnplanning is niet om wedstrijden te organiseren die concurreren met de GP, maar wij zullen er niet aan ontkomen dat bepaalde wedstrijden en agenda's samen zullen vallen. Het is ook niet de bedoeling dat dit een nieuw wereldkampioenschap gaat worden. Dat is absoluut niet het geval. Maar het zal zeker een nieuwe wereld serie worden."
